Archival historyProfessor Dame Sue Bailey is currently a Consultant Child & Adolescent Forensic Psychiatrist at Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and has worked in the field of Child Psychiatry for over 30 years.
Professor Bailey appeared as an expert witness in the James Bulger murder trial in 1993, and spent several years working with Jon Venables, one of the killers, to get him to accept responsibility for this crime.
Professor Bailey was president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists between June 2011 and June 2014. As President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, she has worked with health and social care professionals, patients and carers to bring about Parity of Esteem between mental and physical health.
From 2001 to 2005 she was chair of the Child and Adolescent Faculty, and from 2005-2010 she was Registrar of the College. After she completed her term as president, she donated 1 box of items from her office including reports, promotional DVDs and CD-ROM guides.

Conditions governing accessAccess to the records is by appointment with the Archivist. The College Archives is open Monday to Friday 09.00 hrs to 16.30 hrs. The Archive is not open during weekends and bank holidays. The records are available subject to the usual conditions of access to archives and manuscripts.
